Any way to create a virtual serial port in DOS ?

I'm looking for a program that will create a virtual com port in DOS. I have seen many applications for Windows, however I have not found any that can be run from DOS.

I have a device connected to COM1 which communicates with another peripheral on COM2. Instead of having the actual peripheral connected to COM2, I would like to emulate it's functionality via a virtual COM port.
