Problem renaming files in DOS

hi, I have a bunch of files named

aaaaa.full.jpg
aaaab.full.jpg
aaaac.full.jpg

and so on. I want to remove .full from the filenames

I tried

rename *.full.jpg *.jpg

but this doesnt work and it seemed so right as well. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong ?
