No error message, just the one flash of the screen and that's it.

I do scan for viruses and malware and do sometimes find them and get rid of them. Are there some that lock you out of REGEDIT and the command prompt?

PS I can use START/RUN to run other DOS commands such as CHKDSK, but not REGEDIT.

I select RUN from the START menu and enter REGEDIT, but it just flashes everything on the screen once and nothing happens.
